Another day, another trip to the ER
What a day.
Its about 3pm and I’m in a meeting, when I get a call from my dear wife. Since the cancer came back, I never ignore her calls…not even for the governor (who I of course meet with regularly *smirk*). She was having trouble breathing and her heart was racing. So I call the big guy (Dr. Raval, neuro-oncologist) and he wants her to go to the Emergency Room.
I race home and we head off on the long journey to Monmouth Medical (its about 3 miles). Basically, he was concerned that the racing heart could have been caused by a clot in her chest. Of the regular side effects from her drugs, clots are the biggest risk. Its all too common to get one and they can do significant damage or kill you.
Well, after a few hours, a chest xray, CT scan, CBC, Blood Chemistry, and a Coag test (another blood test to check the time it takes to clot – or for “Coagulation”) , we got to head home. False alarm. Couldn’t find any causes.
I wish there were always an explanation for these types of things…but I guess, sometimes its just the cancer…
