heavy heart

My heart is heavy tonight. Not for Misty, but for two precious children that today I learned are fighting their own battles against cancer: Brody and Isabella. Brody has Stage IV Neuroblastoma and is scheduled for radiation to begin on monday. Isabella is scheduled for a major brain surgery the same day to remove her tumor.

In light of this, I decided to expand this website a bit. I have been playing with the design of a discussion board, where anyone can not only reply to my posts, but make posts themselves (with pictures, links, etc)…and tonight it is launched. I’m only opening two forums right now. One for prayer requests that I (or my soon-to-be-appointed forum moderators) post and another for anyone to post prayer requests. I will open other forums for different things in the near future. You can view the posts and reply without registering, but if you will be a regular, I suggest you create a username and password. I’ll post directions on how to do that soon (I’m in a little rush to get this done tonight so everyone can pray for monday – so this is sort of like a beta launch).

Please go there now and read the stories of Brody and Isabella.  Feel free to leave comments and encouragement for the families…they did not ask me to do this, but I will make sure they see it.

Please go to the new ONLINE COMMUNITY  now!

P.S. Misty has a decent day. The fact that she has improved so much over the last few weeks is a clear miracle, so we are still encouraged in the midst of this very slow upward movement. I plan to post a detailed summary of her progress probably tomorrow. Thank you all so much for praying and sending notes, emails, cards… We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for our family.

    Darren,
You were talking about children the other day with mentoring a couple and all, now look, you are doing a wonderful deed for these 2 young children. Everyone I’m sure will pray for them as well as pray for Misty. So glad to hear that Misty is doing well still. God bless, and hopes, prayers, strenght, and faith to you all and the other family and these 2 precious children.
    May God continue to heal,

Love, Aunt Amy, grandma, and Lacey~

I think it’s a wonderful idea about a message board, prayer requests, anything else that will get people connected! I’m very sorry to hear about the children! My heart feels so heavy for them and I will be praying for them aswell!!!

I’m very excited to hear about Misty’s progress! The Lord is with all of, us and I’m so thrilled that you and Misty are watching what he can do!! Our family is still with you…praying…keeping faith, and giving our hearts to you during this tough time!! I think of Misty all the time. I can’t wait to click on your BLOG and read that she is fully recovered. I truly believe he is making her better!!!

    God Speed.

Darren, what a wonderful idea – the community on-line is great and will reach out to others that need prayer. I will continue to pray for you and Misty and will added Brody and Isabella to my prayer list.

I met Tom Kluender at the Bridgefest in Ocean Grove, NJ (he and his wife were there supporting the Grace and Peace academy). Anyway, I told him I blogged about Jesus and Compassion and he said I should come check out your blog. In a word–Awesome. Praise be to God…you’re all in my prayers.

You are an amazing, incredible blessing to me- thank you for being such incredible examples of and witnesses of God’s faithfulness, even when things look impossible. I’m still fasting and praying for/with you. God’s really using you to reach so many- be blessed by that fact, and continue focusing high. I love you both!

Your idea is cool! I only wish I had the know-how to do something like the ONLINE COMMUNITY!
