I’ve stopped praying
A couple weeks ago I stopped praying for Misty to be healed of brain cancer. This hardly means I’ve stopped praying for my wife…just that my prayers have changed a bit. Here’s why.
Two months ago we had an MRI that showed Misty’s tumor has taken over her brain. You could see it pushing the left side of the brain into space that belonged to the right side. We went home from the hospital and began believing in God, even more. Glioblastoma (Stage IV Brain Cancer) is a terrible disease. It has been characterized as being able to double every 10 days. When left untreated, it destroys quickly.
Well…it’s been nearly two months without treatment and Misty has not experienced a single new symptom. There is nothing telling us the tumor is growing. She has had a handful of seizures, but they are getting less frequent. She is still not able to use the right side of her body, or talk – but there is nothing new. I believe that God has healed her of the cancer.
So now I’m praying that God restores the parts of the brain that were stolen by the cancer. I’m praying that she begins to walk and to talk. I’m praying that God protects her body this week and in the weeks to come as I continue to wean her off Decadron (steroids). But cancer…no, I’m not too worried about that right now.
PS…I was asked for the peanut butter recipe. If you have something strong enough to make it (like the champion juicer i use) you just use the homogenize setting, and run dry salted peanuts through. Add canola oil as you go as if it were a salad dressing on the nuts or something. Otherwise, it’s too dry. That’s it!

Darren,
I just want to say I stand in agreement with you that God has taken care of the cancer and I will continue to pray for Misty to be restored. Our God is more than able to restore Misty. Geannine
PS. Thank you so much for sharing your story and your walk of faith. I believe that you are impacting the Kingdom in a mighty way.
Amen! I am so excited to see the manifestation of her healing and restoration continue. God is faithful, and your constantly increasing faith and updates are reminders of that fact. Thank you for letting God use you in such an amazing way, even when things are so difficult in the natural. You truly are an incredible blessing, and God is honoring that. I will continue to believe and pray with you. Be blessed! :o)
I’m with you Darren. That is exactly how I have been praying this last few months – that God would restore all that has been lost as a result of this cancer Misty had. As we all draw together as an army in agreement with your prayers I believe God will honor our prayers.
You are fighting the battle for your beautiful wife and because of this website you have hundreds and hundreds of rope holders who are praying continually. Our God is amazing and you are an amazing warrior.
Nothing is impossible with our God. He is Misty’s healer and restorer. As I write this I am listening to ‘Healer’ by Hillsong – ‘nothing is impossible with God!’ I praise God this morning for what He is doing in your lives. We serve a might God who goes before us and fights our battles and gives the victories!
Amen and Amen!
Hey Darren,
We are in full agreement with you that the focus of prayer must now shift to restoration in Misty’s body. God has already shown himself able to contradict the inevitable…and now He will show himself able to restore what has been temporarily lost. We truly serve a great God!
On another note, you should also try the peanut butter recipe with almonds…I’m sure you know, they’re packed with higher protein than peanuts and almond butter is pretty good. My wife and I use that as an alternative too! Hang in there, and we’re praying for a full restoration!
Darr,
I’ll be standing in agreement with your line of prayer. Praise God for his mighty power and mercy! God is definitely in the midst of all of us who are praying faithfully for precious Misty!
GOD BLESS! Hugs to Olivia!
I truly think your faith and heart is in the right place…There is no way that Misty will get better unless God helps her. Praying, following the Lord, and believing is all it takes for Misty to get better. God is showing us that that it can be done~ Misty is showing signs of improvement. We all need to pray more than ever…take any time we have and talk with the Lord, tell the Lord everything about Misty and ask for her sickness to go away forever! I will be doing that throughout my day today. I will send another prayer request into church for Misty….Maybe an e-mail to friends aswell. Misty is going to get better…we truly believe that!
God bless you …you are thought of everyday!
We continue to pursue the Lord with you for complete restoration for Misty and for all of you. God promises in Joel 2:25 to “restore the years that the locust has eaten”, and He will do so! Be encouraged, God is for you and He is on your side! I love you all so much!
Still praying and appreciate you taking the time to encourage us through the details of your life!
Dear Darren,
I spent yesterday praying for Misty’s speech to be restored. What a joy that will be for all, especially Misty, when she can share with everyone how the Lord himself has ministered to her throughout all of this. I will join you in praying for God to protect her body as she is weaned off the steroids and that the result will be her lost speech and motor skills quickly restored. The provision God has made for her in you keeps me praising Him all day long!
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all — how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things. Romans 8:32
Hi Darren,
I am sorry I have not been on for a few days. My computer is out of order at home so I have to come out to the library to read or do anything on the internet. But I do my Misty update as soon as I have access to the computer. Yesterday morning as I read the word for my devotions, I came across a story in Luke 8 about a man named Jarius who was a ruler of the synagogue. He had gone to Jesus and fell at his feet pleading with him to come to his house because his only daughter, was dying. Then as you know a women came and touched his garmet and was healed. Then someone from the house of Jairus came and said not to bother the teacher because his daughter had died. (But vs 50 said) Hearing this, Jesus said to Jarius, ” Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.” Later it tells us in vs. 54 & 55 that Jesus told the little girl, My child, get up! Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up.
That word was so powerful to me and I just wanted to share that word of encouragement with you. I believe it for Misty. Thank you so much for your awesome faith and love.
Give Misty a big hug and lots of kisses for me today. Tell her that I love her!!!!!!!
Love you,
Lavenia
We are continuing to agree in prayer. God will fully restore Misty’s brain, and all of her body’s functions will be restored better than new!
Darren and family,
I am at a loss for words. I have been very cynical, and flat out believed that miracles no longer existed on this wretched planet. Thank you for this site, and thank you for sharing this story. I look forward to the day when God shows you just how instrumental you have been and how many souls faith have been restored through you. I read Misty’s updates everyday and I am amazed everyday.
Wow how exciting, can’t wait to get on my computer and find the daily blog has been written by Misty. Standing strong in agreement with all of you. Tell Misty we said Hi! Praise the lord…..
yep…I would say that given that info…she’s healed! Praise God for answered prayers! Now on to the prayers for restored physical abilities…praying daily!
also….with your permission, I would like to download one of your pictures to print and place on my fridge as my constant reminder of God’s goodness and as a reminder to pray without ceasing. I promise to you, Mr. Photographer, that I will NOT use the print for ANY other purpose.
