ICU day 2
I’m on blackberry, so it will be short and probably full of spelling mistakes….but whatever.
Today, started pretty rough (stay tuned, the story gets better). Misty is still in a coma and her heart rate was alarmingly high – up to 174! We also, found a 103 degree fever shortly after that. A bit later an ultrasound of her legs revealed a deep vein thrombosis (clotting) on the back of her right knee. Unfortunately, with everything going on in her head we can’t give any blood thinners to get rid of the clot. The only action is to insert a filter so that when this clot dislodges from the wall, it doesn’t get to the heart and probably kill her. The day had a series of other dramas as well, like a cooling blanket with a leak flooding mistys bed and a couple friendly reminders of why every patient needs an advocate who stays with them and pays attention to everything.
Ok, on to the good stuff. First I need to say that I was so encouraged today when I sat down to read the comments. It was like so many of you actually do believe with us that Misty will be healed. It was really nice.
Secondly, the nurse we had during the day was absolutely wonderful. And the funny part was, I realized that she is my mother’s, cousin’s,husband’s, little brothers, wife whom I have never met!! I’m not even making that up! Jennifer was really great – knowledgeable, caring, competent, friendly.
We had the minor surgery to implant the filters and it went well – no problems.
By the end of the day (1am) her heart rate was down under 125 and the fever below 100 degrees!
I have another good story, but it has to wait till another night. We are doing good – keeping praying and Misty will walk out of here soon!

ps I was trying to remember how Earl knows you – i’ve been putting your family on the prayer list as Earl’s college roommate, but I wasn’t sure… it’s just easier than explaining how I know you from Senate. Earl reminded me of “robust smokehouse stew” and that you really were Engineering House together! Good times.

Praise GOD, Hallelujah! Our GOD is an awesome GOD.
I got GOD bumps! So thankful that her fever is going down. Praise GOD for her heart rate getting back near to normal again. I’m believing it will be normal real soon. I’m also thankful that Misty went thru that minor surgery and is recovering from it. Even tho these medical events seem “small” to some, they are indeed huge. GOD is working and I’m so confident that Misty WILL walk out of the hospital whole, healed and totally recovered in Jesus name!
“Thank you GOD for taking good care of your daughter and her husband. Wrap your mighty wings around them and shield them from anything contrary and negative. May they feel the peace that surpasses all understanding. Give them your rest Father. Thank you Father for the medical staff and everyone involved in Misty’s care. Father GOD give them the wisdom to take care of Misty to the very best of their ability. Father, I recognize you are the ultimate healer, annoint their hands. Finally Father send your angels to keep watch. To guide and guard this precious family in Jesus name. Thank you for what you have done Father and what you will do! It’s in you, whom we truly trust. We had a solemn assembly(Nehemiah 9)for our city today and in the midst were able to stop several times to share with everyone about Misty and pray. The Lord woke me up this morning (3:30) to pray as well, and I can feel that He is stirring things up in the Spirit. We too are confident Darren. This new situation changes nothing except the circumstances. The facts are that God has said he is healing Misty and HE IS. We rejoice that the God who created Misty holds her life in His hands and He who promised is faithful. I continually see her getting up from that bed, breathing on her own, renewed completely in her body and mind; astounding all of the medical profession. Our God is so incredibly faithful and we wait in eager anticipation for the fullness of His healing to come. We sang a song today at the Solemn Assembly for Burlington and it is still ringing true for Misty (and you). I know that in the midst of ridiculous faith there is a weariness that lurks around every bend (especially when you haven’t really rested for a very very long time). But be encouraged this is that the Lord says: “Say to those who are broken hearted, do not lose your faith. The Lord your God is strong and his loving arms, when you call on His name – He will come and save. He will come and save you, He will come and save you; say to the weary one your God will surely come, He will come and save you.” Believing and holding up your arms in Burlington, NJ.

You can bet we’re all praying until we’re senseless and yes we do all believe that Misty will walk out of the hospital.
We’re praying for God to give you all the strength and faith to get through this and are so thankful that Misty has so much faith in our Lord to let him heal her no matter what it takes.

Yes, Darren we do keep believing with you, for you, touching Misty, completing the healing. I always remember that old Corrie Ten Boom story about getting on the train without the ticket. What a blessing to wake up today and read your post. It was heavy on my heart all day and I am still praying for Misty’s healing. So are my girls. I just posted (on my blog) a prayer that I found of Tally’s in a journal. It included Misty. God is working to bring the body together and glorify Him.

I was binding that spirit of infirmity day and night yesterday! There’s no way he is going to steal Misty from us- PRAISE GOD! You know, that’s all this really is. The devil wants to attack a loving God-serving family, but he misjudged what he is up against! Thank you Lord for all those praying with authority!

Darren, we are praying night and day here. My children are continually praying. We are pleading with the Father for healing and that God would move QUICKLY!

Please know that although we do not post often we pray, no plead before the Lord for you daily. We check in every day so that we know what best to pray for. The Lord is mighty to heal and his love for you and Misty and Olivia is a desperate, don’t get in my way kind of love. I hate that we have to live in a fallen world, but thankfully our God is SO much bigger than all of that… I am sure you read this passage often but I just wanted to share it with you…
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge–that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.. Bella and I have been up since four on the back veranda – our spot for listening to Gods creatures awaken and for us to raise our praise for Misty’s complete healing. Our neighbors, Dave, Lisa, and the four kids ask of y’all’ every time we see each oher.
They, too, are praying for Misty’s complete recovery.
I am so thankful for the good news. Let it continue to her complete recovery.
You are such a wonderful standard for a husband, friend, and neighbor. I am totally amazed to have a nephew so full of love and understanding. Misty is a very lucky woman. I don’t doubt that the first thing she wants is to hold your hand.
Keep up the good work. Keep sending prayers God’s way – as we all are and we will experience the miracle of God’s powers.

I’m so glad you had small miracles today! You don’t know me but I got the prayer email from ORB. I’m praying for you and your family and I have faith that God will heal Misty in His time. I’ll send out a prayer request to someone I know in Florida who has access to a prayer chain if you’d like.
Also, you might want to read this book for your own comfort and peace. It’s helped me through a difficult time. “90 Minutes in Heaven” by Don Piper. God is Good!
I’m still praying and believing for Misty’s healing and being able to rejoice with all of you. Always follow the ones you love requests in a time like this. Your an honorable godly man. Good things come to those that wait. All our love and prayers

Hey Darren, it’s jeremy(Misty’s cousin) as i read your blog i noticed a good thing that has come from misty going to the hospital.
since she is in a coma she is being closely watched and taken care of, so they of course found the blood clot. if she hadn’t gone we would be unaware of it and wouldn’t be taking steps to make sure it doesn’t reach her heart, so really i think god is using this as a way to help misty. :)

Hi Darren, it’s hope, i graduated with Arielle,im so happy to read the encouraging things in your posts, a friend let me know what was going on recently and i have been praying for her as well as my family, and even our church today.
