coldplay vs joe satriani

When I was writing a lot of music, I often caught myself working on a new song that resembled something already written. I’d throw those tunes out. Coldplay must have forgotten that step as this tune totally poses off Joe Satriani’s “If I Could Fly”. This is probably one of the top 3 rip offs I’ve heard.

    I’m sure the rip was an “unintentional” mistake. It always seems every song is influenced by another, or several others, but this is a little to “close”.

    Switchfoot sometimes sounds like Led Zepplin. “There’s nothing new under the sun.”

    Jennifer,
    Good question. Here are a few:
    1) Rihanna is good at this: “Shut up and Drive” copies “Blue Monday” by The New Order and “SOS” rips off “Tainted Love” by Gloria Jones (made popular by Soft Cell). I also think there is another one of hers I noticed, but can’t remember.
    2) Vanilla Ice’s “Ice Ice Baby” is really just the music to “Under Pressure” by Queen and David Bowie – this is no secret.
    3) Avril’s “Hey Hey You You – I don’t like your girlfriend” is a complete and utter copy of The Rubinoos “I wanna be your boyfriend”

    Not to change the subject of ripping off artist…but this is the last time i’ll have access to a computer this year. I just wanted to wish everyone reading a very merry christmas. I hope the new year finds each of you healthy and happy. May God’s love shine over all of us.

    EEEEK. I had no idea that was Satriani’s stuff! I haven’t heard him in a long time. Yeah, they ripped it off. However I still dig the coldplay!

    How about this ripoff: Jessica Simpson’s “I think I’m in Love” just totally destroying Mellencamp’s Jack and Diane. Everytime I hear that I grit my teeth. Generally my response to her music in general, but that is ‘nother post!
