emma

A couple weeks back we saw a comment from a young lady named Emma. I want to share a little bit about her.

Emma is 20 yrs old. She began this year in college studying mathematics. Now, she is living in a nursing home after suffering a severe stroke. She is doing well, by some standards…she has regained her eye sight and her hearing, but cannot move from her chair and cannot really speak (but she can type). She is on a respirator and has seizures daily.

I have a girl from the Anthem of Hope team emailing her most every day. We are totally inspired by this young lady, but even more we are drawn to prayer. It’s been a while since I have asked this wonderful community for prayer, so today I’d like to make that request. Please join with me in praying that God heals Emma quickly and completely and that he gives her strength and hope through the process.

That’s all for tonight. I’m sick and took off work tomorrow.  I need to get some sleep. Please pray with me for Emma…and leave her a note here to let her know you prayed for her today. I promise even one line of “praying for you” will be an encouragement to her. So talk it up!

Emma, I prayed for you tonight. I had to drop out of school my first year because of a major surgery and I can somewhat relate to what I know you’re feeling. Please know that you’re not alone right now or ever. I will continue to pray for you – specifically that God would give you light and direction during this time.

    Emma,

Jesus is your hope, and his will for you is something you won’t know until it’s upon you. And that right there is awesome, not scary, because we know what he can do and how he works with and through people. Look at what’s already happening. Look at the people who are gathering around you in prayer, full of hope and elation for your future. But. one. day. at. a. time. The book that Darren shared with us recently is a treasure, ours and yours. Mud, tangled wet grass and swampy lands. Even in the midst of all that we’re being carried, wrapped up in the arms of Jesus. Just amazing. Finding his grace moment by moment is priceless. Even in the mud he carries us through. And our treasures that await us, here and yonder, are awe inspiring.

    Love to you,

    Sunrise

She went to rehab class when she was able and now is mostly recovered. She told me she prayed to God when this happened. God bless you Emma from the bottom of my heart.

    Emma,

  32. Cathy December 16th, 2008 10:55 am

    Emma,

I prayed for you today. I wrote your name down so I will continue to pray for you.

The God who created you made your body to heal. Your healing will bring encouragement to you and many others. May your healing remind us all of what an awesome God our Creator is.

God made our bodies to heal through rest and sleep. I pray that you may find good rest and sleep as you are in the hands of people who care for you. May you remember in Psalm 33:22, “May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.”

I looked up the meaning of your name, Emma. How beautiful it is that your name means “Whole; complete”. In Philippians 1:6, Paul encouraged the people at Philippi that; “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” I pray that you will be encouraged as well with this verse!

    In Christ’s love,
    Cathy

    Emma,

Praying for you, and thanking God for the glory that will be brought to His Name as He heals you. Your story stirred my heart when I first saw your post on Darren’s site. I pray that God would use you as you are being healed, to minister to those around you as He gives you strength. As the Lord Himself said to Joshua, as he directed him to take over after Moses death in Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Grace and Peace and HOPE to you!

My adorable nephew had a stroke at age 28, four years ago.
He is fine today. He was in a coma & on a respirator for 2 long, horrible days. He was completely deaf when he first woke up, but is only slightly hard of hearing now.
Prayer brought him through, & I will pray for you every day. Bless you & your family

  86. Deanna Lynch December 18th, 2008 2:30 pm

    Emma,

I just want you to know that my family and I are praying for you. I also wanted to encourage you in the fact that God still is in the business of healing and granting miracles! I have twin boys that were very sick when they were born, and not expected to live. In fact, only by the grace of God can my one son even see! the doctor even said it was a miracle! so, from this day forward I will keep the faith that God will heal you completely. On those days that you might be having a hard time believing it, I will believe it for you!!

Let the testimony of your gracious and merciful healing change the hearts of hundreds and bring them to the knowledge and acceptance of your saving grace.

I ask this in your precious name, Jesus.

    Dear Emma,

I woke up this morning at 2:30 am and felt like God wanted to talk with me. Then I was drawn to my computer. I began reading Darren’s blog. I knew that God awoke me to pray for you. You are just that special to Yahweh. So special that He wakes complete strangers in the wee hours to pray for you.

I have a twenty-year-old daughter. I can’t imagine how hard this must be for you and your parents. I do know that God uses our circumstances for the good of those who love Him.

Emma, may the Lord bring a swift healing in your life. May He touch the lives of many through you. May He restore all that has been taken from you and multiply it. You are His child and He adores you. He only has plans to that are in your best interest. Hold tight–your Abba is in control.

    Much love,
    Mia

I understand a bit about how our lives can get turned upside down in an instant, as 2 1/2 years ago I got injured at work and was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome. I have lived in chronic pain since then, and cannot do most of the activities I was able to do prior to my diagnosis.

I will continue to pray for you to be healed…
Even though I know God has already answered our prayers and our healing is happening in one way or another, I continue to pray for both of our physical healings to be accomplished as quick as possible.

    Your sister in Christ,
    Theresa

P.s. if you ever feel like chatting, I would love to chat with you, drop me an email & i’ll send you my number if that’s better for you :)

P.s.s Emma my email is sweettheresa@comcast.net
I just read your post. I too know what hopeless feels like. Unfortunately I also know what depression feels like as well. God allowed me to feel hope again when he and I started having a relationship a couple years back. It was awesome to feel hope again after 2o something years. The funny thing is, I hadn’t realized I lost hope, until God gave it back to me…I will also pray that God fills you with Hope, hope in him. I pray too for God to bring happiness to you too. While I am not happy about my physical pain and situation, God does help me to see things to be happy about in this world, that I hadn’t noticed before. I still feel bad for myself sometimes, but I try hard to focus on the good things of this world such as a babies laughter, the feeling of fresh air on my face on a summer day, the red robin singing a beautiful song on my railing, the beauty of each individual snowflake.
ok, i’ve taken up enough space on here, thanks for listening, and thanks for being on here and sharing yourself with us :))

    Dear Emma,
You are continually on my heart and I am “rooting” for your healing, by the grace of our almighty and awesome God!

I know that what you have experienced in your physical being has in no way changed who you are in Jesus. I know that as you set your sights on the unseen world (which is eternal and more real than the “seen” temporal world) that God will continue to do great and mighty things through you, that you cannot even begin to imagine.

I love Paul’s illustration of us as clay jars, so plain, so delicate,so breakable, yet containing something so very valuable!

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that HIS life may be revealed in our mortal body.” 2 Corinthians 4:7-11

Right now, your delicate jar needs some healing, but that doesn’t change the valuable content that Jesus so lovingly has hidden away in you. I pray that He would bless you and use you in special and miraculous ways for His glory! You are so special to Him.

    Victorious because of Him,

    Connie
