time
So, I often get looks from people wondering what “takes so much time” with Anthem of Hope. This inevitably comes when I tell them I’m up till 3am working everyday. (its 4am now…sometimes its a little later, others a bit earlier). So I wanted to give a little insight into a couple things from this week alone.
Video Shoot: We are doing 3, 15 second video clips for our website. Thats it…just 3 clips that are 15 seconds each. This is what that took:
- 15 hours online casting
- 1 full day of casting calls (team of 7 people)
- 6 hours of script writing (team of 3)
- 5 hours prep work for the shoot
- 8 hours, the day of the shoot (team of 10, plus 4 hired actors)
- Now, we have probably 20 hours editing and motion graphics left to do, and professional voice over narrative for the endĀ and background music that has to be made.
Another thing this week was hiring the voice for the 3rd section of the Encouragement Disc. This is going to be a disc with 3 sections of scripture reading relevant to healing and faith. For this we got custom auditions from 67 professional voice talentsĀ before we found the perfect voice. If you want things to be be perfect, it takes time :)
Anyway, we have a great team. Please keep praying for us. We are hoping to launch our website very soon!
PS…I had such a good day today. Olivia and I played in the snow for an hour till her face was so red I made her go in (she wanted to stay out more..haha). It was nice.

you are doing such a wonderful job honoring your sweet wife’s life. and i love how you invest in your daughter by doing frivolous things like freezing in the snow (yeah, i live in the south and basically can’t abide the cold. at. all) and take time to capture and remember the moment.
lifting you up, brother.
press on.
What a darling little girl Olivia is! Cute picture!
Keep up the good work with AOH. You are going to (and already have) made such a difference in this world, Darren. I can’t wait to see how God continues to use you!
Take care!
Hi Darren, I am so happy to hear all the news for AOH. It is great to see this combined effort to fullfill this outreach. You have our prayers, always. Olivia looks like a little snow bunny :) Love to you guys, Gail
Darren,I don’t think you get enough sleep, dear !
It looks like someone had a blast throwing snowballs at daddy!!!
What a great job you all are doing for AOH. Olivia is totally amazing. She looked so cute. She is the most beautiful just like her mother.
Love, Aunt Amy~
Hi Darren,
I am so glad that AOH is coming along so nicely. It really is something all the work that goes into doing a project like this. If there is any way that I can be a help, please let me know. I would really like too. Even if its something as simple as providing something to eat for the cast one day as you are all working. What ever I can do I will. Olivia looks so beautiful in that picture. She is a Gem just like her momma.
Love Lavenia
She is so amazingly adorable!
I really like the picture – Olivia is so precious.
Dear Darren, I just wanted to say that I have written messages on your blog in the past… I recently became a christian and it’s been a struggle but also a life changing, but I often read your your entries about misty, life and your daugther and I see how strong you are. It really has been an inspiration to read your story and the fact that you have opened about all kinds of feelings that you had an expierenced. Ever since I became a Christian I have truly been able to look at myself through the lord. Anyway, I pray for you.
